The Honorable Willie Brown, Jr. Joins ecoATM Advisory Board

Former Speaker of the California State Assembly and Mayor of the City of San Francisco to aid automated e-waste recycling kiosk company on promoting technology and environmental innovations

ecoATM®, the nationwide network of automated electronics recycling kiosks, today announced that Mr. Willie Brown, Jr. has joined the company’s Advisory Board to aid ecoATM in its efforts to champion environmental and technology innovations that support consumers, local economies and communities. As the longest serving Speaker of the California State Assembly and one of only two African Americans to hold that post, Mr. Brown’s public service career spanned more than four decades. During that time, he also served as Mayor of the City of San Francisco.

As Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Brown was instrumental in creating a regulatory climate which fostered technological innovation, economic growth and environmental leadership. His tenure as mayor, which ended January 2004, is known as a time of increased real estate development, public works and other large-scale city projects. Mr. Brown also presided over the city during the .dot com era, when San Francisco’s high-tech economy grew rapidly.

Mr. Brown joins an elite group of community leaders, including former San Diego Chief of Police William Lansdowne, Retired Commissioner Maury Hannigan and Retired Deputy Chief Carter Jackson on the Advisory Board. He graduated from San Francisco State University with a liberal studies degree and earned his JD from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
