Michael McCann is the Sr. Director of Law Enforcement Relations on the East Coast for ecoATM, after a 25 year career in law enforcement. The retired Chief of Police of the River Vale Police Department, McCann serves as the liaison between ecoATM and the many law enforcement agencies it works closely with to uphold strict, extensive security standards and practices made possible by its partnership with law enforcement.

Michael McCann began his Law Enforcement career in 1988 with the Haworth Police Department in Northern New Jersey. In 1994, he transferred to the River Vale Police Department as a Patrolman. In 1995, Michael was assigned to the Detective Bureau and was promoted in 1998 to the rank of Detective Sergeant. After a noteworthy term in the Detective Bureau, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2001 and assigned to command the operations division. In 2007, Michael was promoted to the rank of Captain and assigned as the department’s Executive Officer. On January 1, 2009, Michael McCann was promoted to the rank of Chief of Police of the River Vale Police Department. Michael retired from the River Vale Police Department on November 1st, 2013 after a 25 year career.

Michael is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the New Jersey State Chiefs of Police Association as well as the Bergen County Police Chiefs Association. In 1996 Michael had an investigation and capture featured on Fox TV’s America’s Most Wanted. The investigation led to Michael instructing throughout the United States on investigative techniques involving transient criminals on behalf of the National Association of Bunco Investigators. Michael served on NABI’s Board of Advisors and led NABI as their President in 2005-2006, representing 800 police agencies from throughout the United States and Canada. Michael is also an appointed member of the Bergen County Law and Public Safety Institute Police Training Advisory Board, where he has served since 2007.

Michael was the Chairman of the Crime Prevention and Criminal Intelligence Committee for the Bergen County Police Chiefs Association. The committee coordinated crime prevention and criminal intelligence efforts for Bergen County’s 70 law enforcement agencies consisting of more than 2,000 sworn police officers. Michael also served as liaison for the Bergen County Police Chiefs to the New York City and Rockland County, New York Police Departments.

Michael was the Municipal Coordinator to Homeland Security since 2003 and a member of the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) for the Newark, New Jersey FBI Field Office since 2010.

Michael has received numerous awards during his career including the Medal of Honor (NJ Honor Legion), Chiefs Exceptional Duty Medal (Bergen County Police Chiefs Association), Meritorious Service Medal (NJ PBA) and the World Trade Center Service Medal, where as a Lieutenant in 2001 Michael led a rescue and recovery team at the disaster site.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration and is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Continuing and Professional Studies in Criminal Justice Education. Michael is a graduate of the 240th Session of the FBI National Academy and is the 2015 President of the FBI National Academy New Jersey Chapter.
